LALCV Supports Action to Eliminate Neighborhood Oil Drilling

The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters’ (LALCV) mission is to endorse and support candidates who demonstrate a commitment to preserving and protecting our environment in the 88 cities that comprise Los Angeles County. We believe that environmental justice has a wide and profound scope, encompassing social and economic justice as well. We recognize that for many years communities burdened by oil drilling in their neighborhoods have asked our elected leaders to prioritize their health. These predominantly low-income and communities of color must deal with the impacts of having oil drilling near their homes, churches, and schools. We strongly support prioritizing action on this critical issue to eliminate neighborhood oil drilling. This way we can protect those communities who have long-endured its impacts. We also support providing a just transition for workers and communities. Both good paying jobs and clean air and soil are possible. For more information please visit STAND LA’s website.
