Jim Kennedy
Jim is currently a field representative for LA City Councilmember Bill Rosendahl. Previously Jim worked as a field representative for U.S. Congresswoman Jane Harman. In these positions, Jim has been developing energy and environmental policies and programs. He expanded the “Cool Cities” US Mayors Climate Protection Initiative into a South Bay regional partnership to combine cities’ resource to more effectively reduce green house gas emissions. Other issues Jim advocates for are energy conservation and alternative energy programs. These are also the basis for his involvement to stop a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal from being built in the Santa Monica Bay. Jim continues to be involved in promoting green spaces and revitalizing ecosystems in the Ballona creek and at the Redondo Beach AES power plant site.
On a lighter side, Jim co-founded the Los Angeles chapter of Drinking Liberally as a way to connect like-minded people to the political process in a more comfortable environment.
Jim has also worked as a political staffer for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer, Yes on 82: Preschool for All Initiative, and other local races. He volunteered in Southern California to support General Wesley Clark’s 2004 campaign.
Jim has a background in business development and has degrees in economics from the London School of Economics and the College of William & Mary.
